Lee Honeycutt

Owner, Web Developer

I have been coding websites since 1994, when I first entered the doctoral program in Communication and Rhetoric at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. That first year, I served as production manager for the Web’s very first magazine, Computer-Mediated Communication, which featured articles by leading philosophers and authors on the impact of the Internet. After graduation, I served 12 years as a professor at Iowa State University, where I taught courses in website design, print publications, and technical communication. When I left academia in 2010, I opened Alpine Lakes Design to use my web talents and experiences to help businesses and nonprofits here in my new home in the Pacific Northwest.

The web has changed enormously since 1994, with a website now a necessity for operating any type of business. But what hasn’t changed is my commitment to crafting websites the old-fashioned way—by focusing on the importance of textual and visual content and coding pages by hand according to leading technical standards, such as HTML5 and CSS3. Using timeless rhetorical principles first developed in ancient Greece, I establish a deep empathy for your customers’ information needs and develop a seamless user experience that is optimized for maximum search engine results. So let me build you a website you can be proud of and that also meets your marketing goals.

Associates

Depending on the requirements, I sometimes outsource certain segments of a design project to trusted associates in graphic design, photography, and coding. The folks below have done great work for me in the past, and if you have any specific needs in their area of expertise, I highly recommend you contact them. They all do great work.

Matthew Wenz

Owner, Wenz Creative

With a background in the graphic arts, Matthew brings a wide range of vision to each project. But he has also mastered a variety of digital programs, especially Adobe Illustrator, for producing one-of-a-kind, original artwork that meets a client’s needs and style. His work can be seen in logos and poster throughout Ellensburg, Cle Elum, and Roslyn. For this reason, Matthew is often the first graphic designer I turn to when beginning a new project. The two of us work well together, and his visual mockups of a site’s front page are usually all I need to run with a project to completion. If you need a new logo or original artwork, then give Matthew a call.

Linda Hamilton

Owner, Photonuvo Photography

There are lots of good photographers here in Ellensburg, but Linda is my go-to person for great photography regardless of the project. She is skillful in manipulating light for just the right visual effect and has a knack for bringing out the best in people and staging shots to appear spontaneous and natural. Though Linda specializes in senior-year portraits, she’s also great at shooting landscapes and interior design shots and is willing to work after hours if that’s what is needed to get the job done. She is very easy to work with, and I cannot recommend her enough.

Eric Amundson

Owner, IvyCat Web Services

When I first opened my business, I traveled often to Seattle to attend monthly WordPress Meetups of users and developers. At the time, WordPress was just becoming the web’s dominant content management system, and I wanted to see how it could work for my clients. I met Eric at my very first meetup, and we have been fast friends ever since. Not only does he know more about WordPress than anyone else I know, but he’s also one of the nicest people you’d ever meet. He is always willing to help those in the WP community seeking advice. When I’m unable to take on a new client because of scheduling conflicts, I send them to Eric.

Marty Diamond

Owner, Diamond Website Conversion

I first met Marty through Eric Amundson at about the same time my business started to focus more on Google Analytics. A former stockbroker in a previous life, Marty is one of the premier Google Analytics experts in the Seattle market. Whenever a new twist in the Google search algorithm is launched, Marty is the first person I call after doing my own initial research. But underlying her serious demeanor is a world-class sense of humor that makes working with her even more enjoyable. I provide Analytics reporting and search-engine optimization on small- to medium-sized websites, but if you need industrial strength conversion services for large-scale eCommerce sites, contact Marty to set up an online meeting.
